Item Description
Acupuncture is a modality in Traditional Chinese Medicine that dates back to over 4,000 years. The first acupuncture point was discovered when the Yellow Emperor had an arrow stuck in his arm and it cured his pain in the back. Acupuncture has since be developed by following energy (qi) or circulatory pathways in the body. These pathways are called channels. Each channel correlates to a certain organ system which travels or maps across the human body. When qi is stuck in a channel it will cause pain and disease in that organ system. In placing needles in specific acupuncture points on the channels it will allow the dramatic shift in speed and recourse of qi circulating through the body. As a whole when being treated with acupuncture there will be points chosen directly near the pain as well as distal.
In present day Acupuncture, all Acupuncturists are licensed and regulated by a state governed or national board. All Acupuncturists are required to pass a Licensing Exam with continuing education as part of their re-licensing requirement every 2 years. All Acupuncturist graduate with a Master Degree in Oriental Medicine and are required by law to use only sterile one time use needles. Acupuncture is a time-tested, safe, effective and drug free way to address many health issues.
