Item Description
This stunning close-up image of a spider mum is part of photographer Richard Reynolds' series on flowers. Reynolds has captured a wide variety of floral subjects, many grown in his own garden in Austin, Texas. The image is printed on 20x20 inch stretched canvas and mounted on a wooden frame. The wrapping provides a contemporary finish that projects the image two inches from the wall.
Richard Reynolds has been photographing Texas landscapes since 1968 when he visited Big Bend National Park for the first time. His photographs have a unique look, frequently being mistaken for oil paintings, and he is widely considered to be one of the top photographers of his genre in the state. His style was heavily influenced by the first great American color landscape photographer, Eliot Porter. Reynolds' images, while often characterized by strong colors and dynamic compositions, are just as likely to be composed of soft colors and gentle contrasts. Since 1990, he has been the sole photographer of 13 books, dozens of calendars, and 28 Texas Highways magazine covers. Recently, Reynolds has been photographing flowers, butterflies and seashells in high resolution using special digital techniques he developed in 2006. The results are very large, high definition prints that maintain all the detail of much smaller prints. Reynolds' work is widely represented in numerous corporate and private collections.
