'Hanging Out @ The Factory' - Ms. Powers / 5th Grade
- Item Number
- 1015
Item Description
Inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic paintings created during the hay-day of his multi media art studio, “The Factory,” Ms. Powers culturally savvy 5th graders rose to the occasion like their 15 minutes of fame depended on it. Using their school portraits, they explored a technique called “back” or “reverse” painting. Using Plexiglas panels and a variety of sharpie markers they sketched over their portraits. Using acrylic paints and much courage, they began working from the back side of the portrait outwards, layering vibrant colors and brush strokes to create personal and bold statements of their very own. With pop era panache they have created an exceptional piece worthy of any collection!
