Item Description
Sycamore Food Safe handcrafted bowl - 6"diameter, 4 3/16" high.
In terms of area history and looking toward positive economic growth this had crafted wooden bowl is special.
The bowl is crafted from sycamore wood and a tree that stood for many years in the front yard of Bascom Jordan's house on West Main Street in Danville, VA.
Bascom's home is now the Admissions Office for Averett University and is a symbol of the University's focus on youth in the Dan River Region, providing education and the opportunity to become productive citizens. Bascom Jordan was a leader in our community and one of the original founders of the Chatham Rotary Club. His life and example support Averett's vision.
Karl Stauber is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Danville Regional Foundation. Karl is an amateur woodworker of note. The missions of both the DRF and Averett complement each other.
Karl has crafted and provided this bowl for the Chatham Rotary Club's Live Auction and Fundraiser for the year 2013.
