The Mandell Explorer Camp is an opportunity for children ages 3-7 to experience and explore the wonders of summer camp. Our children will be exposed to a balanced schedule that will allow them to grow physically, mentally and creatively while having a ton of fun. Campers will enjoy action packed days consisting of music, visual arts, athletics, swimming, cooking, and technology in a nurturing and relaxed environment. There will be fantastic field trips throughout the summer to destinations such as the Central Park Zoo, the New York Aquarium and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. The children will also enjoy all of our special days such as dress up day, pajama day and our barbecue day.
Children will enjoy their summer days in our fully air conditioned 65,000 square foot facility and have outdoor water play on our 8,000 square foot outdoor deck.
All of our counselors are experienced teachers.
SCIENCE
Campers have a unique science experience that is exciting, entertaining, and educational. The curriculum includes central science themes such as physics, chemistry, biology and earth science. Campers will have the opportunity to engage in fun experiments as well as learn how to make a rainbow of crystals, invent a new soda, make atomic glow slime, make flowers change colors, create giant bubbles and much more.
ARTS
Visual Arts:
Campers will work in our professional art studios stocked with exciting 2D and 3D materials with which to challenge their imaginations and curiosity. Visual art activities include drawing, cartooning, painting, sculpting with clay, puppetry, mask making, weaving, paper making, live action video, pinhole photography, set design, jewelry making, bookbinding and more! We engage with an array of traditional art materials as well as unconventional materials which challenge our imagination and thinking skills.
Music:
Our music studio is full of rhythm, string and wind instruments ready for exploration! Campers explore the relationships that naturally occur between music and other arts, as well as how music relates to history and culture. Whether you are a camper who is just learning an instrument or one who has years of experience, you will be excited to join this musical ensemble!
SPORTS
Campers will have the opportunity to participate in and experience numerous sporting activities. We provide campers with a nurturing environment in which they can excel and gain confidence as they learn the benefits of teamwork and leadership through competitive sports. Our staff teaches the fundamentals of each sport with positive reinforcement and also provides a culture in which the campers have fun and thoroughly enjoy each activity. The combination of Mandell’s tremendous facilities, our proximity to Central Park and our access to brand new swimming facilities in our building complex, allows us to offer numerous sporting activities for the campers to explore and experience throughout the summer.

Valid for either Junior Explorer or Explorer Camp. Dates are Monday - Friday from July 1, 2013 - August 2, 2013.
Junior Explorer (ages 3-4), Half Day, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Explorer Camp (ages 5-7), Full Day, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
