Argentina Vacation with Andes Drifters

Fly Fishing – Lifestyle & Adventure combo in San Martin de los Andes area

 

For an easy read of the itinerary we color the types for each activity. You will find on green the Eco/Adventure option of each day – On red the lifestyle option – On blue the fishing option – While what remain on black will be the activities or events done for the entire group together

 

DAY 1 Arrive to Buenos Aires International Airport – Transfer to BA Local Airport - Fly to Chapelco Airport– Check In at La Casa de Eugenia– Welcome Reception Lunch – Optional Afternoon fishing on Malleo River - Visit Junin de los Andes and “the Gaucho Store” then Lanin Volcano panoramic views - Wine Tasting & Welcome Dinner for the entire group –

At your arrival to BA International Airport a representative of Andes drifters will be waiting for you to privately take you to BA Local Airport to catch your flight to Chapelco. Once arrived to Chapelco Airport your guides will be waiting for you and the trip will start taking place

La Casa de Eugenia

This beautiful Bed and Breakfast is located in San Martin de los Andes town, just two blocks from Lake Lacar and walking distance from downtown and the best shopping and Restaurants.

This is a unique historic building that works as B&B with great facilities to host multiple interest parties. They serve all Gourmet Chef prepared meals at the place and will have the benefit to be at walking distance of any interesting place in town. It’s great for people that want to experience the town and very convenient for the Adventure and Lifestyle activities due the proximity where most of this activities will take place.

         

Once the group is comfortable checked in at the Lodge it will be a Lunch reception for the entire group where you will get introduce to all the guides and people who will be involved on the trip on different ways. Then the group will be ready for afternoon activities.

Optional Malleo River walk & wade fishing session

For those who will want go fishing we will head to Malleo River.  This is known as one of the best streams of Northern Patagonia for dry flies. This river is a medium size one populated with rainbows and browns in average 16 to 18 inches hiding some trophy brown trout in every corner. We will spend the journey at the lower section which flows on a beautiful Rocky Canyon and is famous for its great browns. We will fish riffles with hopper patterns trying to make this large browns to take on the surface.

 

The Best of San Martin Tour

The town of San Martin is strategically located at the edge of Lanin National Park and Lake Lacar. We will discover the history on this unique town and visit the great Panoramic views that over look at town and lake

Later on this evening the group will meet back at the Lodge for an introduction to the Argentine Fine Wines Wolrd. Your host and Andes Drifters operational manager, Gustavo Hiebaum, will take you to a virtual tour of the most representatives Wineries area of our country. During this tasting Gustavo will present a very representative label of each area to give you the first introduction to the great Argentine wines. Then a delicious dinner prepared by chef Federico will delight the entire group.

DAY 2 Alumine River Float Trip – Nonthue Lake Kayak Adventure - Morning SPA session at Chapelco LOI SPA with gourmet Lunch at Chapelco Golf Club House follow by “the Best of San Martin de los Andes” unique shopping and highlights of town - Private Concert & Dinner for the entire group

Alumine River Float Trip

This is a large size stream that runs from north to south on a depth canyon of the foothills of the Andes. Today we will float a section of 8 miles of this great stream looking for rainbows and brown trout in a range 18 to 20 inches.  This section of the stream is ideal for those who enjoy trying different techniques. We will have suitable water to sight fish for rising trout, drifting and searching until spot those rising fish. Then we will have time to slowly cover the riffles with hopper and droppers; resulting this lot of times as a very effective technique. And then for those who are enthusiastic of streamers fishing we will have the chance to tempt some of the large brown trout of this stream.

 

Nonthue Lake Kayak Adventure

Today we will head to the heart of Lanin national Park where the Nonthue Lake is located next to the border with Chile. Our guide will take you to an amazing paddling session on the calm and crystal clear water of this Lake. We will stop on a quiet sand beach to set up a delicious Lunch that we’ll all enjoy on this stunning location.

During this afternoon we will continue paddling to Quechuquina beach where our pickups will be waiting for us to return to the Lodge.

  

 

SPA Session – Gourmet Lunch – “The Best of San Martin de los Andes”

This morning we will head to the complex of Chapelco Golf & Resort to visit the LOI Suites SPA. There you will enjoy the water circuit follow by a relaxing massage that will make you feel like a new person.

Afterward we will enjoy of a delicious Lunch at Chapleco Golf Club House enjoying of the beautiful view of the Chapelco Mountain range.

This afternoon it will the best time to enjoy of San Martin de los Andes and the unique shopping options that this town has to offer. We will go downtown to visit Julieta Martinez Jewelry and Clothing Designers Store. Then we will visit Artesanias Neuquinas where you will find the native Indian knitting loom blankets and ponchos and then we will visit Andrea del Este Sweaters, she is a Local designer that does singular design of wool sweaters, scarves and ponchos.

 

                              

This evening we all meet back at the Lodge where tonight while enjoying of cocktails and drinks we will have the visit of the Local Folk Music Band that will entreating us while we’ll all share the stories of a great day full of activities. Then again Chef Federico will surprise the group with another of his delicious creations.

DAY 3 Collon Cura River Float Trip – Horseback Ride on the Andes – Private boat trip on Lacar Lake with gourmet Lunch on a beautiful beach – Afternoon Quechuquina Tea House and Chachin Waterfall – Tango Dancing Show Dinner for the entire group

Collon Cura River Float Trip

Today we will head to the Collon Cura River. This is the major stream of this area ideal to float and tempt large trout as well on dry flies or streamers. We will float a great stretch that will assure continues action on rainbows and browns. This stretch is known as one of the most productive fisheries of the area. We will have chances to walk and wade for the multiple situations where we will find trout sipping dry flies of the surface.

 

 

 

Horseback Ride on the Andes

Today we will visit a nearby working Ranch to enjoy a unique horseback ride over viewing the majestic Andes mountain range. We will ride on the mounts that surround Lake Huechulafquen and reach some magnificent views of Lanin Volcano.

By Lunch time we will enjoy of a traditional Argentine asado that will be serve along with fresh salad and the best of Argentine wines.

 

 

 

 

Lake Lacar Boat Trip – Gourmet picnic Lunch – Chachin Waterfall – Quechuquina Tea House

This morning after enjoying breakfast your guide will take you to a beautiful private boat trip on Lacar Lake, we will enjoy the forest and the Andes Mountains range views while taking this pleasant ride. Then we will reach a secluded sand beach where we will setup a gourmet picnic lunch.

Afterwards we will take a gentle hike on the forest to visit the beautiful Chachin waterfall. Later this afternoon we will stop at Quechuquina Ranch beach to be delighted with Quechuquina Tea House and the delicious variety of cakes and pastries.

 

 

This evening we will be glad to meet Marcos & Analia, this young and bright couple will amaze you all with their Tango Dancing skills. You will be delight and enjoy of a singular private show before and after tonight’s dinner.

DAY 4 Malleo River walk & wade  – Bike ride at Mapuche Indian Reservation – San Martin de los Andes Lunch and shopping – Afternoon Zip Line Adventure on Chapelco Mountain Range – Visit Mapuche Indian Reservation at Malleo River valley and join the fishermen for a traditional Lamb cook on the “gaucho style” for Lunch - Then visit the Via Crusis amazing Concrete Sculptors - This Evening feature Emiliano Celiz Master Silversmith follow by another delicious dinner at the Lodge

Malleo River walk & wade

Today we will head to Malleo River, this stream is famous as one of the best stream of Northern Patagonia for dry flies. We will fish different stretches of the river searching for the typical fun sight fishing situations.

By Lunch time and down on the Indian Reservation we will meet with other part of the group for a traditional Lamb cook at the “gaucho style” this will be an event to remember where we will all enjoy of this wonderful place on earth.

This afternoon we will continue with our fishing journey this time on the waters of the upper Malleo in search of trophy brown trout.

 

 

Indian Reservation Bike Trails – San Martin de los Andes Lunch & Shopping – Chapelco Zip Line Adventure

The Indian Reservations that surround San Martin de los Andes is famous as a paradise for mountain bikers and as well for people that enjoy of an easy ride on a forest trail. We will take the road of Arrayan circuit which has beautiful view and multiple panoramic spot and will ride down to the town.

Once in town we will enjoy a delicious lunch at El Regional Restaurant, where a singular variety of delicious regional cuisine is served every day.

This afternoon we will visit the Chapelco Mountain Range for the adventure of the zip line down the Andes Mountains. This will be a place with stunning views of the high peaks of the area and a panoramic view of the Lake District.

 

        

Mapuche Indian Reservation – Lamb cook at traditional “gaucho style” for Lunch - The concrete sculptor at the Junín de los Andes Via Crusis

This morning we will head to the nearby Mapuche Indian Reservation on the valley of Malleo and Alumine Rivers. We will learn about the mapuche traditions and will meet for lunch with the fishermen of the group for a traditional Lunch. A Patagonian lamb cook on the gaucho style will be served along with sausages and a variety of salads. Of course accompany with the best Argentine Malbecs.

Afterward we will return on direction of Junín de los Andes town and visit the Concrete Sculptors at the Via Crusis. We will discover the magnificent art pieces done by Alejandro Santana on this singular Via Crusis that join the Mapuche traditions with the Christian culture.

 

 

Tonight previous another delicious dinner prepared by Chef Federico will visit us our talented friend the Master Silversmith Emiliano Celiz. He will bring over to the Lodge a good part of his showroom for an in house exposition for the group. You will be amaze with his pieces of art and learn about how he fusion the traditional gaucho silver work with his new creative tendency on each one of his silver pieces.

DAY 5 Caleufu River walk & wade for the Minnow Action – Hike at Lanin Volcano Base follow by Chimehuin River Rafting - Visit Huechulafquen Lake and the stunning views of Lanin Volcano – Lunch at Ruca Hueney Restaurant and afternoon cooking Class with Chef at the Lodge – Evening Traditional Asado Dinner

Caleufu River walk & wade for the minnow action

Today we'll fish the lower section of Caleufu River where we'll look for the surface action of the trout feeding on minnows. This particular fishery features two different varieties of tiny minnows that migrate from the reservoir, where this river flows in.

Every year by middle summer this behavior starts and makes all the large fish from the lake follow these minnow inside the river. The trout focuses on the riffles where these minnows are occasionally push in schools by the current and you can see amazing surfaces action of the trout busting the minnows bait balls. We will spend the day wading on the last dozen riffles before the stream outlet on the lake. We will have the chance of catching rainbows and browns over 20 inches.

Lanin Volcano Base Hike – Chimehuin River Rafting

This morning the adventurers will leave heading north direction to the Lanin Volcano Base. You will be able to discover the ancient Monkey puzzled tree forest on the way. Here we will stop for a nice hike among the monkey puzzle trees and the stunning views of the volcano.

We will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on a beach of Tromen Lake. And later on this afternoon we will head to the upper Chimehuin River valley to enjoy the fun of a white water rafting adventure down the waters of this beautiful river valley.

 

                        

Huechulafquen Lake Boat Trip – Ruca Hueney Lunch Restaurant – Private Cooking Class with Chef at the Lodge

This morning we will head to the nearby Huechulafquen Lake which is the headwaters and source of the Chimehuin River. We will visit the west side of the Lake, place that we will reach on a beautiful drive along the lake shore. Here at Puerto Chucao we will take a boat trip that will allow us to see the magnificent views of south face of Lanin Volcano and its glaciers. The boat trip will take us to a second lake called Epulafquen Lake where we will be amaze with the flow of an old lava river that reach the lake until solidify a couple of centuries ago.

By lunch we will return to Junín de los Andes for Lunch at the Traditional Ruca Hueney Restaurant own and run by the Huamcha family for the last six decades. Here we will be delight with a wide menu of regional cuisine.

This afternoon once back at the Lodge we will be introduce to the Argentina most traditional dishes on a personal cooking class by our Chef. You will learn how to make the famous Argentine empanadas and some others dish that will be served tonight along with the traditional Asado that will be prepared for tonight’s dinner.

 

             

This evening the entire group will meet back at the Lodge to enjoy a traditional Argentine Asado. On is traditional bbq the most especial beef cuts and sausages get cook over fire wood cokes over a traditional grill called “parrilla”. This fest will be served with exquisite selection of fresh salads and the best argentine Malbecs.

DAY 6 Departure Day

After enjoying your breakfast your guide will privately drive you to Chapelco Airport to catch you return flight back to Buenos Aires.

This trip has a market value of $ 3,375 per person based on double occupancy. The activities options are schedule to do for a minimum of two persons per activity each day
