Item Description
For 26 years, the volunteers and staff of the Center for Wildlife in York, Maine, have provided medical care, safe sanctuary, and humane treatment for sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife until they can be released back into the wild. The Center for Wildlife is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to build a sustainable future for wildlife in the community through medical treatment, rehabilitation, educational outreach, research, and conservation activities. Today, Center for Wildlife proudly serves the New England region, typically managing 1,650 cases each year (native wildlife injured because of vehicle collisions, pollution, fishing line, oil spills, and other unnatural causes), representing more than 190 species of birds, reptiles, and mammals. Center for Wildlife has also provided environmental education outreach programs bringing live animal ambassadors to schools, libraries, state parks, senior centers, professional conferences, and many other venues.
