Item Description
Revisit the 20th century through art while exploring and inspiring your creativity with four guest passes to the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art!
The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art was built to house works by artists Abraham Rattner, Esther Gentle and Allen Leepa. In 2011, the Museum expanded to include the collection of the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, which closed in 2009. This collection ranges from landscape paintings by noted 19th century American artist George Inness, Sr. to contemporary photography by Clyde Butcher and Anna Tomczak and includes sculptures, mixed media works, cast glass and works on paper. The Museum’s 20th century collection offers visitors a rich variety of works, including glass by Dale Chihuly, works on paper by such important artists as Salvador Dali, Sam Gilliam and Miriam Schapiro, and folk art by Howard Finster and Minnie Adkins.
The Museum's building was designed by the award-winning architect E.C. Hoffman Jr. to resemble the bow of a ship as a post modernist nod towards Tarpon Springs' fishing and sponging communities. It was recently designated as one of the 100 most architecturally significant buildings in the state of Florida by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida.
