Item Description
The youthful vigor of Benjamin Britten's Double Concerto composed for violin and viola - will challenge the virtuosity of the San Francisco Symphony's Concertmaster and Principal Violist. With Krill Karabits conducting, Alexander Barantschik on violin and Jonathan Vinocour on viola. It's interesting to note that 65 years passed between the time Britten composed the Double Concerto and the date of its premier in 1997. Britten wrote the piece in 1932 at the age of 18. However, he never scored the orchestral parts nor sought to have it performed. Composer Colin Matthews is credited for completing the score. Use these two tickets for the June 7 performance at 8 p.m. Also on the program are Honegger's Pacific 231 and Sibelius's Symphony No. 2.
