Item Description
Hans Christian Anderssen (1873-1946), born in Norway, was a lighthouse keeper at various light stations including Whale Rock (RI), Fire Island (NY), Barber's Point (NY), and Cumberland Head (NY). While at Fire Island, he advertised in a newspaper for a wife and subsequently married a respondent. He was an accomplished oil painter and became a respected art instructor. Prints of his work are extremely rare.
