Starting November 27, 2013, this certificate may be redeemed for two tickets in Orchestra or Dress Circle for one performance during San Francisco Ballet's 2014 Repertory Season in the majestic War Memorial Opera House.

Program 2: Feb 18 @ 8pm, Feb 19 @ 7:30pm, and March 1 @ 2pm.

PROGRAM TWO | MIXED-BILL | FEB 18–MAR 1
Included in the Principal Series 3 and 8 SF Ballet is pleased to present a world premiere work by Val Caniparoli. Although he has created works for over 40 dance companies around the world, Caniparoli—who is currently a Principal Character dancer at San Francisco Ballet—is most closely associated with SF Ballet, where he has made his artistic home since 1973. The program also includes encore presentations of two critically acclaimed works from the 2013 season: Alexei Ratmansky’s joyous trip around the globe, From Foreign Lands, and Wayne McGregor’s arresting Borderlands, a fierce, driving study in movement inspired by the work of contemporary visual artist Josef Albers

Program 3: Feb 20 @ 8pm, Feb 25 @  8pm, and Feb 26 @ 7:30pm.

PROGRAM THREE | MIXED-BILL | FEB 20–MAR 2
Included in the Principal Series 5 and 8
Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird, one of the Company’s most popular ballets, returns! Set to Stravinsky’s soaring score, the San FranciscoExaminer called Firebird “robust, imaginative, vastly entertaining… with an impact that had the audience cheering raucously in the aisles.” The program also includes Christopher Wheeldon’s Ghosts©, which recently wowed London fans and critics. The London Independent said, “Ghosts is original and astonishingly atmospheric… utterly gripping.” The program concludes with the spellbinding classic, La Bayadère, Act II. A ballet of extraordinary poetic beauty, this large-scale work with a cast of over 30 dancers was originally set on SF Ballet by the legendary
ballerina Natalia Makarova

Program 6: April 9 @ 7:30pm, April 10 @ 8pm, and April 12 @ 2pm.

PROGRAM SIX | MIXED-BILL | APR 4–15
Included in the Principal Series 5 and 8
SF Ballet is pleased to present a world premiere work by Helgi Tomasson. Since assuming leadership of the Company in 1985, Tomasson has choreographed over 40 ballets, ranging from lavish full-length story ballets to intimate neoclassical works that showcase the unique qualities of his individual dancers. The program continues with the 20th anniversary presentation of Maelstrom, the first work created for SF Ballet by Mark Morris. Upon its premiere, the San Francisco Bay Guardian called Maelstrom “a jewel that goes right to the core of classical European dance.” The program concludes with Yuri Possokhov’s The Rite of Spring, a gripping interpretation of Stravinsky’s masterwork, which made its premiere during the 2013 season.

Program 7: April 29 @ 8pm and April 30 @ 7:30pm.

PROGRAM SEVEN | MIXED-BILL | APR 29–MAY 10
Included in the Principal Series 3 and 8
As “the most forward-looking American ballet company on the continent” (Contra Costa Times), SF Ballet is committed to presenting new works by up-and-coming choreographers. In that spirit, the Company presents a world premiere by Liam Scarlett, who, at the age of only 26, was recently appointed artist-in-residence at The Royal Ballet. Scarlett’s highly inventive works have stunned audiences and critics, and are currently in the repertory of The Royal Ballet and Miami City Ballet. The program also includes the return of Helgi Tomasson’s masterful The Fifth Season and Serge Lifar’s elegant Suite en Blanc, a brilliant showcase of French neoclassicism featuring “a parade of stunning individual and Hollywood-big corps performances.” (San Jose Mercury News)
