Item Description

This is your opportunity to drink wines from Marcassin Vineyards of Sonoma County, CA.  Marcassin is a highly regarded boutique wine maker whose wines are universally lauded by Wine Spectator and Robert Parker among many others.

Generally available only through their mailing list or via auction, this collection includes two Chardonnays and three Pinot Noirs.  The Chardonnays are a 2003 and a 2004 from their Three Sisters Vineyard.  The Pinots are a 2002, 2003 and 2004 from their Three Sisters Vineyard.

Marcassin, which takes its name from a type of young, wild boar, made its debut in 1991. At the time, the owners, Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer were well-known consultants to numerous wineries in Napa and Sonoma.   The couple gained fame for their consulting efforts with many of the best new, producers in the Napa valley during the initial boom of the California Cult Wine phenomena. Colgin Cellars, Bryant Family, La Jota, Pahlmeyer and Turley cellars were just some of her clients.

Wine Spectator scores for these wines range from 93-97 points; Robert Parker scores range from 94-96 points.

The most recent auction/retailer sales show these wines all selling for over $150 per bottle.  All wines are drinking well now.  The wines were purchased directly from Marcassin and have been stored in a controlled temperature cellar.
