Item Description
A Friend of WXXI offers a Hand-Blown Glass Vessel by internationally renowned glass artist, James Michael Kahle, of Glass by James Michael and Company. Bring the breathtaking blue of the rainbow into your home, office or gallery! By applying his unique, award-winning glass blowing techniques, Kahle has captured the beautiful blue of the rainbow, incorporating it with alternating layers of clear and silver reductions. The vessel's soft, organic, asymmetrical shape seems to echo Kahle's 'dance', as he calls it - the flow of his creative process of constantly moving as he turns the pipe, reheats the glass, adds color, shapes and works the glass - all to the rhythmic humming of the glowing furnaces and exhaust fans. This truly unique piece of art has been signed, numbered and exclusively identified as a Piece of the 2013 Rainbow Series specifically created for PBS by James Kahle, master glass blower. The Rainbow Series of hand blown glass vessels celebrates the seven colors of the Rainbow. This year celebrates the fifth color - Blue. Bid high for a truly extraordinary and precious piece of art! Height: 10 inches. Mr. Kahle's glass-blowing techniques have won him many awards and the recognition as a master craftsman with many major, solo exhibitions around the United States and overseas. His works can be found in private and public collections worldwide.
