Item Description
Once again, WXXI proudly welcomes Jim Christy on board as the Featured Artist for its annual Auction! A Rochester native, Jim has an abiding interest in both historic and present day scenes around his hometown. With his magnificent watercolor painting, JAZZ STREET, Jim has captured the vibrant atmosphere of Rochester's International Jazz Festival. We can feel the exhilaration of the crowd gathered on Gibbs Street, the epicenter of one of the nation's most popular music festivals. Music pours from the outdoor soundstage, as people from all over the world gather between performances at nearby venues. Endless lines of music lovers stand in front of the Eastman School of Music waiting to fill its theaters, while across the street, food vendors satisfy the hungry. A small jazz group in the lower corner and a lone acoustical jazz guitarist in the opposite corner give a sense of the variety of music being performed at any one time around the area. Bid high and delight in one of the nation's leading music festivals, painted by one of Rochester's treasures! Jim maintains a studio at his home where he paints for galleries, here and in Florida, and accepts commissions. For several years Jim has contributed his artwork to the Auction and says he is honored to have this featured artist position. The signed and numbered, unframed print measures 23 inches wide x 20 inches tall.
