Item Description
Darryl Hernandez is an artist and has been all his life. He creates life portraits, calligraphy and wire sculpture as well as old school sign painting. He works as a plumber and at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. This drum stick was used at one of the dances there where it was well admired.
The Root Drum Stick synthesizes natural materials found in New Mexico into a ceremonial drum stick. It measures 21" x 3" and is adorned with painted feathers, turqouise, intricate beading, floral wire and an owl claw. The drum stick is contructed from a tree root and features a leather drum head. The root was found by Darryl while working and a friend found the claw and brought it to him.
Darryl is a big fan of the Singing Wire.
