Item Description
Help Jane Blume celebrate almost 20 years as one of the hosts of KUNM's Folk Routes show! (That is a lot of great music!) You and a friend can come to see the show happen at KUNM and then have lunch with Jane at Seasons and talk music and radio broadcasting! You'll get to consult with her ahead of time and make requests and learn how the show is put together.
Jane is an award winning broadcaster who began her radio career “in the last century” as a Russian-language music programmer for the Voice of America. She then moved into public radio, holding positions at stations in Minneapolis, Portland (OR) and Albuquerque as a script writer, news reporter, public affairs director, talk show host, election night anchor and interim general manager at KUNM (preceding current GM Richard Towne).
For over two decades Jane has been an active volunteer at KUNM: she’s one of several rotating DJs on Folk Routes, and for 15 years hosted the monthly program University Showcase. She has also served as anchor and reporter for our election night coverage, host of the Call-In Show, and currently, occasional substitute host on Women’s Focus.
She has received broadcasting awards from NM Associated Press, National Federation of Community Broadcasters and National Women’s Political Caucus.
Many people don’t know that Jane has also enjoyed a parallel career in public relations. For over two decades her “day job” has been owner and principal of a PR firm, Desert Sky Communications (www.desertskycommunications.com), which Albuquerque Business First ranks as the #10 PR agency in New Mexico.
For her professional and community work, Jane has earned additional recognition from Acquisitions International magazine, US Small Business Administration, Telly Awards Competition, National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), YWCA Middle Rio Grande, Albuquerque Women in Business Directory, and Women in Communications-NM.
