Item Description
Bids are for a limited edition Johnny Pesky hand-signed baseball inscribed "Ted, We Did It!" with a deluxe gold glove display case. A disciplined contact hitter who never struck out more than 36 times in a season, Johnny Pesky specialized in getting on base, leading the American League in hits and singles three times each, and ranked in the top ten in on base percentage for six seasons. As a rookie, Pesky assembled 205 hits, led the league in sacrifice hits, and finished second in batting average. Although his legacy includes a late throw to home that allowed the Red Sox to lose the World Series in 1946, Pesky is best known as the namesake for the foul pole in Fenway Park, nicknamed "Pesky's Pole" in recognition of his many short home runs that hit the pole. Certificate of Authenticity included.
