Item Description
Wayang is a generic term denoting traditional theatre in Indonesia. Wayang was probably brought to Indonesia from India or China around the first century CE, with the first record of a wayang performance dated 930 CE. Indigenous storytelling traditions may have had a profound impact on the development of the traditional puppet theatre, certain features of which remain to this day.
You are bidding on a brand new colorful--ornately dressed and painted--authentic Indonesian wayang shadow puppet, measuring 28 inches from head to hem! What a delightful and artistic item of cultural intrigue!
These are the kinds of extraordinary world craft items found at Gallery One in Nob Hill Shopping Center, Albuquerque. Register to bid, and come to the reception to see this puppet in person. It's so much better LIVE!
Item Special Note
After the auction closes, items will be shipped to the winning bidder and actual shipping charges (including insurance) will be added to the total bid, unless bidder chooses pickup options listed in your winning bid confirmation at the close of the auction.
