Looking for new music? Why not start close to home. These seven CDs all include Holliston musicians and run the gamut from acoustic folk to good old-fashioned rock n’ roll! Here’s what you get:
Red Pony – Red Pony: Red Pony was brought together by a love of music (and a desire to rehearse close to home!) Based in Holliston, Red Pony blends soulful tales of heartbreak and gritty reflection, with music inspired by the American experience from roots to rock.
Katie Frassinelli - Let Me Down Easy: Katie started writing songs when her twins finally started sleeping through the night, and those midnight scribblings eventually became her debut CD, Let Me Down Easy. Katie's songs are intimate stories of love and the joy and heartbreak it can bring. With a rich, soothing voice reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and Kris Delmhorst, Katie's songs flow over you and into your heart.
Capital 6 – The World Was Supposed to Love Us: “It was a good day when I heard this group playing their revved-up, rockin’-roots material. There’s a nice balance and loose interplay between the two vocalists/guitarists, John Bickford and Jerry O’ Hare, and a kick-ass rhythm section, Pete Woodward on drums and Seth Peterson on bass. Songs like “When the Last Echo Dies,” “California,” “South of Omaha,” “Cruel Kind,” or “Clarence White” bristle with energy and enthusiasm, not unlike late-period Byrds, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Brandos, or local heroes, the Lonesome Brothers. I dig it, feel it, and want to hear more.” – The Noise
John Powers – a million suns: John Powers has been performing his rock/pop music in the New England area for many years. He has been heralded as a qualifying up and coming singer/songwriter by Metronome Magazine. Powers has performed in colleges, coffeehouses, festivals, conference showcases, bars, clubs and live radio and television. He has opened for national and regional acts such as Spider John Koerner, and Lorraine Lee and Bennett Hammond.
The POP STARS – The Blue Album & The Pink Album: Based in Holliston, The POP Stars is a band comprised of a group of dads who perform original songs about fatherhood. The result is a light-hearted and poignant look at parenting combined with a Folk Rock Jugband "POP" beat that is a guaranteed good time for all.
Hayseed Prophets – Future Looks Bright: “This is a Gem! Strong vocals, great songs, crunchy & clean Telecasters, Hammond B3. Tight band, great delivery, great hooks. No need to add water; just pop it right in your car stereo and start banging on the steering wheel!” – Amazon Review
