Children come for the entire 90 minutes.

Meadowbrook is a state-of-the-art Aquatic Center which is developing on the site of an eighty four year old tradition of recreation and aquatics history. (Read all about Meadowbrook's history.) Meadowbrook is more than just a couple of big pools, they offer so much more. 

Imagine a place where the family can play together year round. Parents can work out, or take a fitness class while the kids splash in the pools. Meadowbrook combines recreational, lap swimming, swim lessons, a line of weight equipment with cardio machines, indoor cycling classes, Masters swimming, tennis, arthritis plus, water aerobics, and more. Meadowbrook succeeds because they balance the needs of many diverse constituencies. They offer lap swimming all day every day, they make space available for recreational (play) swimming every weekday morning, afternoon and evening (hours). They do have a strong commitment to competitive swimming and Meadowbrook is one of the training venues for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, but their training times and space is limited to a few lanes and does not dominate the facility. Our 2800 square foot children's recreational pool rivals most summer pool's main pool size. 

Constructed by George Morris in 1930, Meadowbrook opened its doors in Mount Washington, a northern residential section of Baltimore City. The main attraction was and still is the enormous one million gallon concrete pool. Meadowbrook soon became the place to escape summer heat, and countless thousands of Marylanders can still recall how many streetcars it took to get from their neighborhoods to this Mount Washington landmark. 

Meadowbrook is the home training facility of Olympian Michael Phelps as well as top Ironman Triathalon finisher Joanna Zeiger, a 2000 Olympian. Successfully combining the latest up to date fitness machines with the tradition of family recreation and aquatics excellence in one facility, Meadowbrook is truly is the one place where you can do it all!
