The first weekend of the NMJW Summer Music Festival continues with an eclectic night of of jazz from Albuquerque and Santa Fe based jazz musicians and composers, Brian Wingard Quartet/Ramon Bermudez and Howard Cloud Duo.
Dreams of Yesterday - The Music of Ray Charles/Michael Herndon Quintet -- June 8
The music of Ray Charles comes to life in Dreams of Yesterday—the Music of Ray Charles. The band features well known musicians Glenn Kostur, Bert Dalton, Jim Ahrend, Colin Deuble and Cal Haines in this tribute to the music legend. Sharing the bill is the Michael Herndon Quintet. Herndon electrifies audiences with powerful, soulful vocals, making this evening of Jazz & Blues Under the Stars a night to remember.
Women's Voices:Timeless Standards - June 15
WOMEN’S VOICES – Jazz Night. NMJW Summer Music Festival presents the first of two nights with some of the best local divas on the jazz scene in Albuquerque. Three generations of women in jazz grace the stage with performances by Wendy Beach, Kari Simmons, Patty Stephens Letti O’Loughlin and Heather Vaughn. Special appearances by Bev Rogoff and Nola Bartlitt.
Memphis P'Tails/Pleasure Pilots (Blues Night) -June 22
Get ready for an old school, classic night of down home blues with slicked-back Memphis P’Tails and good-old blues and R&B with Santa Fe based band, the Pleasure Pilots.
Pete Amahl & Friends--Hard Bop Madness/JQ Whitcomb Quintet -- June 29
Pete Amahl & Friends--Hard Bop Madness:Pete Amahl is a native of Massachusetts but has been an integral part of the Santa Fe and Albuquerque music scenes for over 35 years. He is highly regarded as a world class drummer and is one of the founding members of the New Mexico Jazz Workshop. On this double bill jazz evening, the JQ Whitcomb Quintet also performs. Born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, JQ Whitcomb’s musical styles include jazz, classical, funk, ska, and reggae.

WOMEN’S VOICES: Ladies Sing the Blues --- Roots in the Blues One of the biggest nights Under the Stars is Women’s Voices: Ladies Sing the Blues. Get ready for a soul shaking evening of blues with divas Hillary Smith, Lydia Clark, Amy Faithe and a special appearance by Lyric Lorraine, Smith’s daughter, and a young diva in her own right. Todd Tijerina/The Little Sister Band (Blues Night) -- July 27
Blues night gets extra stormy with this double bill of The Todd Tijerina Band and The Little Sister Band. Todd Tijerina’s band knows the blues like the back of their hands, and The Little Sister Band, called, “Chaka Khan meets ZZ Top,”has been thrilling festival audiences of all ages across New Mexico and Colorado with their high energy performances and stellar musicianship.
Swing Dance Night w/ The Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra -- August 3
The Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra pulls out all the stops for Swing Dance Night!
Last year’s show was such a success, we thought we’d do it again! Join the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra and DJ Mello for a great night of swing tunes. Formed in 1982, the AJO has been delighting audiences throughout the Southwest for over thirty years. Wear your classic duds and grab a partner for the big band dance music of yesteryear.

This punch pass is only good for performances during the NMJW Summer Music Fest May 31st August 10th, 2013. All shows are rain or shine. Limit to TWO PUNCHES per visit.
