Item Description

“The Green Team: One-of-a-kind Recycled Accessories”

Apron, satchel and zippered clutch.

OFFCenter creates these unique, folksy, recylced products (known as OFFBags™ and castOFFs™) by cleverly re-using, fusing and stitching together old plastic packaging and bags that would otherwise end up in the landfill. This “re-fashionista” ensemble contains one-of-a-kind fused plastic accessories: the “Caution! Soft & Silky Organic Potatoes” apron; the “M&M’s are Merry” satchel; and the “Growers’ Tortilla Longboard” fabric-edged clutch bag with an invisible handle (great to hold coupons, a small wallet and your favorite lip balm!) These unique creations are crafted in our free-to-the-public community arts studio by our artists/volunteers. The entire set is valued at $100.

Normally 100% of the proceeds go to benefit OFFCenter, but we’re happy to share the wealth of Albuquerque’s creative community to support our favorite local public radio station – KUNM! Folks at OFFCenter love listening to KUNM programming, especially locally produced: Home of Happy Feet, Native America Calling, Folk Routes, The Blues Show, The Children’s Hour, Freeform  and happy they carry national programs like Latino USA, This Way Out, Democracy Now, NPR’s Morning Edition & All Things Considered and so much more!

OFFCenter Community Arts Project is a local, 501 (c) 3 non-profit arts organization located in downtown Albuquerque dedicated to promoting positive self-identity and resilience through art making. We do this by providing a safe, free-to-the-public studio environment ripe for creative social interaction in all the arts for everyone -- with an emphasis to enhance the lives of those most marginalized in our community. OFFCenter is also host to the annual Albuquirky House Tour/Little House Silent Auction as well as the annual “We Art the People!” Folk Art Festival. This year’s Folk Art Festival will promote about 100 folk art vendors, free live music, dance and theater performances complete with a Giant Papier Mache Puppet Parade and free art making projects for everyone in our giant Art Making Tent! This year’s festival will take place on Sunday, September 8th, 10 am – 4 pm at Robinson Park (Central & 8th Street, downtown Albuquerque.)
