Item Description
Dave Tarras: Music for the Traditional Jewish Wedding. The legendary klezmer clarinetist Dave Tarras in his final studio recording from 1978, produced by Andy Statman and Zev Feldman for the Balkan Arts Center (now Center for Traditional Music and Dance). Statman/Feldman asked Tarras to reproduce the rare Jewish wedding music from his roots in Podolia (Ukraine), and so this CD is a rare document of a lost musical world. A few years ago we asked Zev to produce new liner notes for the recording, and he produced wonderful encyclopedic annotations (which are included) about this unique musical innovator and klezmer music. Tarras is accompanied by long-time collaborators Sam Beckerman on accordion and Irving Gratz on drums.
