Item Description
Join folklorist and singer Eileen Condon for an hour and a
half adventure in Irish traditional singing: a deep listening experience, followed by a singing lesson, culminating in a singing session! We will begin by listening carefully to some recordings of some of the finest Irish traditional singers in English (Dolores Keane, Joe Heaney, Paul Brady, and others). Eileen will then explain and demonstrate how Irish ornamentation works and weave this into the teaching of one traditional unaccompanied song. An
open singing session will follow—in which the conventions and manners characteristic of a typical Irish singing session will also be explained and demonstrated. Up to 20 students can participate! The Irish Singing Adventure will be held at an Irish bar in Manhattan!
