Item Description
This expressive 9" x 8" pencil-and-paper illustration depicts a ringed kingfisher perched on a branch and a heron in eloquent flight. It's from Tooth & Claw: Animal Adventures in the Wild -- the true story, told in text, photos and illustrations -- of Ted Lewin's travels and creature-related escapades all over the world. Ted is the illustrator of over 100 children's books; he won a Caldecott Honor in 1994, and (fun fact!) he and his two brothers and sister all have been professional wrestlers. Ted and his wife Betsy Lewin have been the subjects of retrospectives at the Brooklyn Public Library, The Society of Illustrators gallery, The Children's Museum of Manhattan and the Pratt Institute.
