Item Description
Artist's Statement:
In the era of social networks, touch-screens, recession and distraction, my photography has become both a documentary of my immediate surroundings and a catalyst for reviving human senses and values beyond the "like" button.
Most of the time, a quality of light inspires me to photograph ordinary objects and simple scenes. Additionally, overlooked accents in everyday surroundings invite me to extract a hidden quality and compose something fresh for the viewer.
Nude photography provides an exploration of light, lines and the familiar that is distilled and more personal, for me. My attempts at capturing the human body's expressive potential with a model can continue to evolve during the digital processing phase where composition choices can accentuate geometric relationships or add mass to a gesture, gaze or mood.
An underlying message within a majority of my visuals is "stop texting and smell the roses." Observe your world. Notice the relationships that exist around you, both large and small. Some are natural, complimentary, symbiotic. Others contrast or mimic things we find familiar. A few may even present an enlightening deception.
