Item Description

Lunch or Dinner with Ralph S. Collier — Director of the  Global Shark Attack File & White Shark Expert — in Canoga Park / San Fernando Valley area, California.

Internationally recognized as the leading authority on Pacific Coast shark attacks, Ralph Collier is Founder and President of the Shark Research Committee Dedicated to expanding scientific knowledge and saving lives, Collier has studied shark/human interactions for more than 40 years.

Excerpts from his exceptional collection of data and understanding about how, when, where and why sharks bite humans have been published in professional journals and research symposium volumes. A favored media expert, his work has been cited in hundreds of newspapers, magazines, television reports and documentary films.

Ralph has interviewed more white shark accident survivors, witnesses, and rescuers than any other acknowledged researcher. He pioneered the technique for using interspace measurements (distance between tooth impressions) to determine shark species and size, and was the first to cite the significance of “recurring locations” in white shark attacks.

Because most of the unprovoked Pacific Coast shark attacks involved white sharks, Ralph specializes in that species’ biology and behavior.

He is also the author of the landmark book: Shark Attacks of the Twentieth Century from the Pacific Coast of North America.

Ralph continues to investigate and analyze each new shark/human interaction reported from the Pacific Coast of North America and is the Director of the  Global Shark Attack File

Item Special Note

Being auctioned is dinner or lunch with one the world’s foremost shark experts or celebrities. It is a unique opportunity to “talk shark” face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.

How it works:

1. Bid on a celebrity, shark scientist or conservationist that lives or works in your area, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.

2. The winning bidder pays for the lunch or dinner and may bring as many guests as he or she wishes.

3. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity, scientist or conservationist. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable  date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.

All winning bids are charitable contributions deductible from US Federal 2013 income taxes.  Funds raised by the auction will be used to support shark research and conservation programs.
