Item Description
Lunch or Dinner with Shark Week Filmmaker Jeff Kurr in Santa Barbara, California
Jeff Kurr has made 30 shark-related documentaries and filmed more than two dozen segments for Shark Week. His Shark Attack Files (1995) Tales of The Tiger Shark (1996), Air Jaws: Sharks of South Africa (2001), Ultimate Air Jaws (2010), Great White Invasion (2011), and Air Jaws Apocalypse (2012) have made the top 10 highest rated episodes for the Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week television series.
“The sea is the last wild frontier left on Earth,” Kurr says. “Just about all terrestrial animals have been fenced off where we can safely see them. But you go into the water at your local beach, and you're in a complete wilderness. In California it's not beyond the realm of possibility to see a great white shark 100 feet from a beach.”
Item Special Note
Being auctioned are dinners or lunches with the world’s foremost shark experts and celebrities. It is a unique opportunity to “talk shark” face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.
How it works:
1. Bid on a celebrity, shark scientist or conservationist that lives or works in your area, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.
2. The winning bidder pays for the lunch or dinner and may bring as many guests as he or she wishes.
3. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity, scientist or conservationist. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.
All winning bids are charitable contributions deductible from US Federal 2013 income taxes. Funds raised by the auction will be used to support shark research and conservation programs.
