Piggybacked is a collection of poems that evokes universal experiences with thought-provoking imagery, allowing the reader insight into the world view of the poet. The inspiration for this book came from the author's relationship with her late grandfather, also a poet, and their individual quests for freedom.

The author's own splash ink painting is featured on the cover of Piggybacked, and each section inside has a splash ink painting rendered in black and white.  The author's grandfather's poetry, translated from Yiddish, is featured at the end of the book.

Piggybacked is a Finalist for the 2012 New Mexico Book Awards in Poetry.

Walking Fish: A Novel is a provocative and emotionally charged novel delves into the inner worlds of people grappling with painful paradoxes of life, and like the walking fish, they must find ways to adapt in order to survive.

WALKING FISH WON in gay/lesbian fiction for the 2011 INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS, and was a FINALIST in the Best New Book category.

WALKING FISH also WON in gay/lesbian fiction for the 2011 New Mexico Book Awards and was a FINALIST in three other categories.

WALKING FISH was a FINALIST in the USA BEST BOOK AWARDS, 2011 in gay/lesbian fiction.

Joanne Bodin is a retired teacher of the gifted in New Mexico. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction and Multi-Cultural Teacher Education. Her book, WALKING FISH, is a quirky story with a cast of characters who, like the walking fish, need to find ways to adapt in order to survive.
