Item Description

Framed and Autographed Immaculate Reception Wheaties Box. *Autographed by Franco Harris. Photo of signing included. Phil Musick writes, "Voted the greatest play in the long history of professional football. The play with the most memorable nickname The Immaculate Reception. The background: the 1972 National Football league playoffs. Pittsburg vs. Oakland. The final 22 seconds; the Raiders clinging to a 7-6 lead, the Steelers facing fourth-and-10 from their own 40-yard line. Under fierce Raider rush, Steeler quarterback Terry Bradshaw rolls to his right to elude the pressure. Falling, he throws a desperation pass over the middle as the breath catches in every throat at Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Stadium. Downfield, there is a jarring collision between a Raider safetyman and a Steeler receiver. A collective groan rises as the ball deflects wildly toward the left sideline. Inches form the turf, it is plucked from the air by Steeler running back Franco Harris, who sprints 42 yards to the end zone and NFL immortality. When the referee raises his arms, there is pandemonium and a 13-7 Pittsburgh win. Luck? Maybe. But a busted play for the ages. A reception surely. Immaculate? In Pittsburgh, they were sure of it."
