Item Description

Point Reyes National Seashore Association is proud to partner with the National Park Service at Point Reyes National Seashore for an outdoor adventure for ten at the Tomales Point's Tule Elk Preserve.

Invite up to nine guests to join you and wildlife biologist David Press for a 3.5 hour private tour to learn about the fascinating life of the Point Reyes Tule Elk.  Learn how this smaller elk subspecies thrived in California for thousands of years, ranging from the lush open country of the Central Valley to the grassy hills of Point Reyes, only to face near extinction following the Gold Rush. You’ll hear about the Tule Elk’s amazing comeback and reintroduction to Point Reyes. David will discuss the elk’s life-cycle, current status, and how the park manages the herd today. Summer and fall is a good time to view the rut season and participants may have a chance to view sparring males, but you can schedule your tour for anytime of the year. All ages encouraged.

Our friends at Green Mountain Digital will also provide the winning bidder with a collection of their single subject Audubon apps for the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to continue your wildlife education. Your ten-set collection includes:

Audubon Birds

Audubon Mammals

Audubon Trees

Audubon Wildflowers

Audubon Mushrooms

Audubon Butterflies

Audubon Insects & Spider

Audubon Reptiles & Amphibians

Audubon Fishes & Audubon Tropical Fishes
