Item Description

This painting depicts life on the North Shore of Lake Superior at the turn of the century, before roads. Logging and commercial fishing were the industries, and the mail and supplies all came from the "world" by boat, to which the families living along the shore would need to row, paddle, or sail in order to receive their mail and supplies.
Howard Sivertson is a life-long Isle Royale and North Shore resident as well as regional historian and artist.
This is a giclee (archival print - done on canvas with archival pigmented inks), stretched and ready to hang, measuring c. 24" X 48". The original oil painting is 4' X 8' and resides with the Loren Swanson family (collector of fine regionally historical paintings of Minnesota's rich Scandinavian heritage).
