Item Description

Jo Ann Rothschild '71
Birthday Weekend, 2009
signed and framed
ink on vellum drawing
13'' x 8''

" I like drawing on vellum because of the translucency, and the way the ink glides and flows on the surface. I use both sides of the vellum so that one sees the marks of one side through the marks and color of the other. This creates literal depth as well as uncertainty. What is close, what is on the back. My Drawing is most often unconscious and intuitive. Small drawings have room for atmosphere, the news, the spill, the distraction. I like it to gain from the incidents of daily life. (in this case a birthday)" - Jo Ann Rothschild
