Item Description

Ever wonder where an oyster comes from, or how they are grown? Invite up to five of your shellfish loving pals for an afternoon on Tomales Bay with oyster farmer Luc Chamberland to find out what it takes to nurture these pearl producing bivalves.

You and your guests will receive a private boat tour along Tomales Bay, a long narrow inlet that separates the Point Reyes Peninsula from the mainland of Marin County, to learn about the history of oyster production in the area and visit a variety of active oyster beds. To Chamberland, the only way to truly appreciate the connection between oysters and the surrounding environment is by jumping into the water yourself, so bring your rubber boots to fully experience this amazing once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

You and your guests will also enjoy a selection of oysters and other tasty treats including some bubbly and wine along some of Luc's favorite secret beachesThe winning bidder will also receive The Hog Island Oyster Lover's Cookbook: A Guide to Choosing and Savoring Oysters, with over 40 Recipes, two pairs of oyster shucking gloves and two oyster knives for your home kitchen.

Luc Chamberland is an aquatic farmer who loves Tomales Bay and everything salty. He has spent many years in restaurants located near or literally over the water. He has also spent considerable time raising shellfish and inspiring people about the importance of water quality and the virtue of collaborative approaches to resource stewardship. He is the owner of Saltwater Oyster Depot in Inverness, a neighborhood oyster bar, restaurant and wine shop that is rooted in its respect for sustainably managed farmlands.
