Squash Blossom Farm CSA & Apiary (Taos, New Mexico), 2013
photo collage
" Our farm is on 2 acres of land flood irrigated from Acequia del Monte for over 300 years. Alfalfa hay and the orchard are irrigated from Rio Chiquito one of 6 streams on Taos Valley (elevation 7200’) at the foot of the Sangre de Christo Mountains. We grow a wide variety of produce, herbs, flowers, and fruit irrigated from a deep well. Since 2010, the farm is certified naturally grown (an organization based in Brooklyn, NY) inspected by rotating local farmers.
Our CSA serves 14 families as well as our needs. Native and honey bee pollinators abound. Honey production 2-3 topbar hives caries from 50-100+ pounds a year. This adventure keeps my mind and body alive and well at the same time connecting me to a community of wonderful people, fascinating history, and changing environment." - Gael Rockwell Minton
