Join the guides at Blue Waters Kayaking for a naturalist-led kayak tour of the recently restored Giacomini Wetlands, a legacy project and partnership of the National Park Service and Point Reyes National Seashore Association. As the restoration embarks on its 5th year anniversary, the park has recorded an increase in the number of birds who use the area to breed and has recorded the return of the Tidewater goby, a federally endangered species that hasn’t been seen in these waters since 1953! As we glide through the water, passing through eel grass and past salt marshes we will have a chance to see the amazing diversity of life in this ecologically rich inlet, including birds, seals, bat rays, river otters, jellyfish and more. Bring binoculars and camera for the best viewing experience. Beginners and experienced kayakers encouraged.

Highlights of the trip:

4-hour naturalist-led paddle on Tomales Bay in the Giacomini Wetlands fully outfitted with kayak, paddles, and safety gear.

Each person will be treated to a shore side feast prepared by Chef Seth Harvey. Harvey, who has worked for both Petite Syrah and the Girl & the Fig, will created some great bites to boost your energy after a day on the bay.  Menu items include:

Locally-grown oysters from Tomales Bay, barbecued and raw, served with special sauces

A seasonal salad of mixed greens from local farm producers

Brick Maiden bread made in earth fired ovens in Point Reyes Station and perfect for dunking in oyster sauce.

Wine and non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.
