Item Description

Grab up to twelve family members and friends to join you and Chris "Mr. Science" Giorni of Tree Frog Treks for a 3-hour naturalist exploration of Lands End and the Sutro Bath area in San Francisco's Golden Gate National Recreation Area. At every turn of the trail on this wild and rocky northwestern corner of San Francisco, there is another stunning view, including views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.  Along the way you’ll see hillsides of cypress and wildflowers, views of old shipwrecks, access to the epic ruins of Sutro Baths, pocket beaches, and a new Lookout Visitor Center.

During a low-tide event, Chris will guide your party along the hilltop bluffs to the sea in search of life and share his incredible wealth of knowledge about this unique area and the animals that live there. Together your group will search for sand crabs and sea stars along the shore, soaring hawks overhead, and sleeping salamanders under logs. Depending on the season you schedule your trip there will be opportunities to see seals, sea lions and whales too. Your guests will also meet rescued reptile and amphibian ambassadors like Speedy, the gopher snake and Bully, the bullfrog and learn about their life cycle, adaptations and more. We will also visit the National Park Service's new Lookout Visitor Center to learn more about this unique region of the world.

Chris is a professional biologist and the founder of Tree Frog Treks in San Francisco. He has been teaching science at the kindergarten through adult level at California Academy of Sciences, Strybing Arboretum, SF Rec and Park, Bay Area Discovery Museum, and Ashland Science Works Museum for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from UC Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Biology from San Francisco State University.

This is a perfect family outing, unique birthday party idea or just a fun way to explore San Francisco, bid today!

If you have a kid who loves nature and relishes the chance to get up and personal with snakes, lizards and other creepy crawlies, then this is heaven. Let's put it this way: my daughter has never not loved a TFT anything. She always wants to go back, stay longer or do it again. - Samantha J, San Francisco

Tree Frog Treks is both a parents and child's dream!!! I cannot say enough about this one-of-kind program that Mr. Science has developed and runs for kids. All our kids love him, the activities, the adventures-and they even sing the Tree Frog Treks songs all year long. And we, as parents, love that we can rest assured knowing that our little loved ones are in excellent hands with kind, caring, knowledgeable, engaging, and awesome trustworthy staff! There are animals, games, experiments, songs, comradely, learning, and all in a FUN environment. If you haven't already checked Tree Frog Treks out...DO IT (your family will thank you)!!!!! EI C - Los Angeles
