Item Description
Striking woodblock print by Ren Adams.
A note on the process from Ren Adams' website:
“Cypress Transformation” began as an idea in a notebook and ended as a heavily carved piece of wood, ready and rearin’ for the inking and printing.
Using western and Japanese woodblock cutting techniques, I hand-carved, cut, and scooped the wood to create a relief surface. It’s slow-going, but meditative. A variety of tools and cutters are used to create marks. You have to be very careful planning your image, to be sure light areas will be light when printed.
In the end, the block itself is fun to explore.
