Item Description
This 12" across, 3 1/2" deep round bowl was handturned by Paul Loftness and rosemaled by award winning artist Shirley Evenstad in the Telemark style. It is red framed by krill blue border and has a dark blue lazured exterior. It has traditional Norwegian colors - muted shades of blue, red, yellow and green. Lettered on the rim is the Sons of Norway motto "Enig og tro til Dovre faller", translated to "United and true until the Dovre mountains fall." If you collect rosemaling, this one is for you.
Item Special Note
Rosemaler, Shirley Evenstad, began rosemaling in 1977. She earned her Vesterheim Gold Medal in 1983. Shirley painted the Norwegian Pavillion at Epcot Center in 1988. She has studied with Norwegian masters and now teaches around the country and quarterly at Community Ed of Richfield.
One unique fact about Shirley is that she rosemals in all the Norwegian styles. Very few artists can say that.
