Male Portraits is an ongoing series of portraits of competitive male figure skaters. The portraits are realized by two shots, one on the ice in their competition outfits and one off the ice in their everyday "street" clothes, in poses from their routines. The two portraits are layered and merged in post to focus on the fashion choices of the skaters. While prevalently aesthetic, these images capture the subject’s personality through clothing and gesture selections, while exploring and breaking stereotypes.

About the Artist:

Zachariah Szabo is an Akron-based artist currently pursing his MFA in Photography at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
