Tara was inspired to make art from an early age. Her father, aunt, and twin older brothers all draw quite well. Art was celebrated and encouraged by her mother.

In 1995 she began using wire as a medium in her last quarter at University of Oregon, where she received a BA in art.  She maintained her connection to art while earning her Masters in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute by painting.

Over time, working in wire became a larger part of her artistic endeavors. "What I find so compelling about wire is how I can take a material that is simple and accessible and turn it into something expressive and dynamic.  The shadows are often the best part, it's kinda funny because, you can't plan for them".

Tara has a deep appreciation for living beings and it is acutely apparent in her sculptures. She brims with excitement at the prospects of where wire can take her.
