Item Description
1-hr Private Charter (up to 10 passengers) on Rangeley Lake aboard the 1947 classic restored “Oquossoc Lady” with Rangeley Region Lake Cruises and Kayaking. Rated #1 of 17 Rangeley attactions by TripAdvisor.
The first of the six Rangeley Lakes, Rangeley Lake offers ample history and spectacular vistas while cruising on the “Oquossoc Lady” The Town of Rangeley and Village of Oquossoc provide the setting for sights that include Doctors & Narramantic Islands, Saddleback, Sugarloaf, Bald and Spotted Mountains, Rangeley Lake State Park, South Bog, and the historic sites where the Mountain View, Mingo Springs, and Rangeley Lakehouse Hotels were located. Discussions on the old railroads, steamboats, fishing and logging can be added to your private cruise.
The Oquossoc Lady
A beautifully restored 28’ wood launch, the “Oquossoc Lady”, is a classic vessel reminiscent of the old private steamboats that delivered “sports” and vacationers to the grand hotels on the Rangeley Lakes. Built in 1947, by Goodhue Hawkins in Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee, the vessel is covered with a surrey top and canvas siding that provides comfortable cruising in most weather conditions. Powered by the original 4-cylinder Gray Marine inboard engine, she purrs along quietly allowing me close interaction with the passengers as I discuss the history and describe the wildlife of the region. Originally named the “Shady Lady”, we purchased her in 2008 and relocated here from Lake Winnipesaukee to Rangeley Lake. Familiar with Naval Traditions regarding the renaming of a vessel, our first passenger was Father Paul, our pastor, who blessed the boat as we re-christened her the “Oquossoc Lady”. She comfortably seats 8-10 adults.
