Item Description
This violin was painted for the West Virginia Youth Symphony by local WV artist, Roger Lucas.
Roger Lucas, a native of Charleston, WV is a many faceted artist. As a professional performer in Operas, Oratorios and Recitals, he has appeared in over 30 major roles in Europe and America as a leading tenor with major performing institutions. Mr. Lucas studied for three years at Westminster Choir College before transferring to the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, from which he graduated with honors in voice.
As a visual artist, Roger opened and operated his own art gallery and picture framing business for more than two decades in Charleston. He now continues his framing business and commission paintings from his home in the Edgewood area. He works in acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor and pastels.
Roger is married to Deborah Lucas and they have two grown children who reside in Orlando, FL.
