Item Description
This violin was painted for the West Virginia Youth Symphony Auction by local WV artist, Barbara Marsh Wilson.
Barbara Marsh Wilson returned to her native West Virginia in 1989, after living in Pennsylvania and Florida for many years where she taught art in the public schools. Since that time, she has exhibited work in the West Virginia Juried Exhibitions. Wilson is a recipient of the $5,000 D. Gene Jordon Memorial Award from the 1993 exhibition. Wilson secured an Under Served Area grant from the West Virginia Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts to purchase a printing press for her studio.
Wilson served as adjunct professor of art at West Virginia State College. She has shown her work throughout Pennsylvania and Florida as well as in West Virginia at The Museum in the Community, Hurricane; Boreman Arts Center, Martinsburg; Glenville State College; Steifel Fine Arts Center, Wheeling; Huntington Museum of Art; Sunrise Museum, Charleston; Tamarack, Beckley and the Clay Center, Charleston.
Wilson has been affiliated with the Art Store since 1992.
