Item Special Note

Ivy Higa, who was raised in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii graduated from the University of Hawaii, Manoa in 2003, and New York’s prestigious Parsons The New School for design in 2007. While attending Parsons, prior to launching her own label, Ivy interned at DKNY, and worked at Lafayette 148 New York under the direction of Edward Wilkerson. After a successful four seasons, while putting her eponymous label on pause, Ivy continued to expand her fashion knowledge consulting at Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg, Theory, Jason Wu, and Edun. Ivy’s career had come full circle being hired at DKNY, where she currently works.

Since launching her label, Ivy was one the contestants on The Oscar’s Designers Challenge, Project Runway Season 8, and Project Runway All-Stars Season 2. She has been featured in WWD, Elle.com, Instyle.com, Lucky Magazine, The New York Post, and Modern Luxury Hawaii. She had been chosen by NBC New York’s ThreadNY as a designer to watch, and has dressed women such as actress Olivia Munn, Chrissy Chong and Valorie Curry, and A+E Network President Nancy Dubuc for the Primetime Emmy’s.

Ivy works with diaphanous fabrics to add depth and movement to ethereal designs. There is distinct lightness about her design aesthetic. Having the privilege of partaking in creating a mask for Unmask AIDS, Ivy incorporates her aesthetic of clean, geometric lines, with the touch of finesse and grace to the design of her mask.
