Used in yoga classes around the world while also being ideal for massage therapists and as an accompaniment to meditation, Gravity and Grace features over two-and-a-half hours of music and is composer Stuart Balcomb's soundtrack to Peter Sterios' first yoga DVD, Gravity and Grace: Yoga for Finding Your Inner Teacher.
Stuart Balcomb writes: "This is a new kind of yoga soundtrack. I took an approach entirely different from what has traditionally been done. After seeing the elegant footage, I knew I needed to 'sculpt' the music to enhance the movements instead of simply writing tunes that would merely function as background music. Peter and I spent two days meticulously spotting the footage to determine different changes in energy levels and movements for almost every frame of film. This is something normally done for a feature-length film, not yoga videos. It then took 5-1/2 weeks of solid composing, recording, and mixing to create three hours of music for the DVD."
The Gravity & Grace soundtrack features two CDs and is produced by Conscious Enlightenment and Transcendent Sound.
Stuart Balcomb has worked for over thirty years as a composer and orchestrator for film and television soundtracks.
Peter Sterios leads workshops and teacher trainings nationally and internationally and is based in San Luis Obispo, CA. A treasured workshop leader at Esalen, Peter is also the founder of Manduka, purveyor of fine yoga products and maker of the the legendary Black mat.
