Item Description
We opened daVinci’s, “the local’s Italian restaurant” on July, 24, 1996 in Hailey, Idaho. Our concept was and still is simple. We serve New York style Italian food that is consistently good and make as much from scratch as we can. And of course to be the “local’s Italian restaurant” we must be reasonably priced.
Our building is about 100 years old (no one knows for sure), and we have been told that it has been everything from a flop house to a free store to a restaurant. There is not one right angle in our building, which everyone seems to consider cozy. Anything that has settled has done so about 50 years ago. When we were hanging the pictures the day before we opened in July of 1996, we used a level to make sure they were all put up straight. When we were done and stepped back, none of the pictures looked straight. We put the level back on the pictures and they were all level. The floor and ceiling were not quite parallel and the walls who knows. We ditched the level and just arranged the pictures as to how they looked best.
Our goal has always been to be a local’s place. We make as much as we can in our own kitchen, know most of our customers by name and most of our servers have been with us since the 90’s. We keep our prices reasonable, include salad and bread with every entrée and no one leaves hungry. We are open for dinner at 5pm on Wednesday through Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday.
We hope you have enjoyed your dinners at daVinci’s and we hope to see you again soon. If you have not been in yet for dinner, what are you waiting for? Ask anyone around town and they will tell you why daVinci’s is “the local’s Italian restaurant”.
Sincerely,
Larry and Jennifer Schwartz
