Item Description
Bring the beauty of the Wisconsin River Dells into your home or office with this 11X14 winter scene from the H. H. Bennett Studio. Produced by the Wisconsin Historical Society, this digital print comes matted on a 16x20 mat embossed with H. H. Bennett’s signature. Scanned from the original glass plate taken by H. H. Bennett, the photographer whose iconic images made the Dells of the Wisconsin River famous.
Bennett moved from Vermont to Kilbourn City (now Wisconsin Dells) in 1857. He originally trained as a carpenter, but after a Civil War injury crippled his right hand, he had to find another craft. He taught himself the new art of photography and opened a studio in 1865. Read more about H.H. Bennett's story and place in history here.
Item Special Note
