Item Description

Enjoy a tour of the International Crane Foundation (ICF) and the famous Aldo Leopold Shack with Dr. Rich Beilfuss, President and CEO of the Foundation.

Founded in 1973 and located near Baraboo, Wisconsin, the ICF works worldwide to conserve cranes and the ecosystems, watersheds, and flyways on which they depend.  ICF provides knowledge, leadership, and inspiration to engage people in resolving threats to cranes and their diverse landscapes.

The foundation maintains a 225-acre world headquarters, and is the only place where visitors can see all 15 species of cranes and learn about the deep cultural connections between cranes and people on five continents. Visitors can enjoy over four miles of nature trails set among 120 acres of restored tall grass prairie, oak savanna and wetlands.

A committed conservationist and all-around great guy, Rich will provide a behind-the-scenes tour of the Foundation, sharing stories about their efforts locally and around the world. He'll also take you to the nearby Wisconsin River to see the Shack where Aldo Leopold penned his renowned “Sand County Almanac” and watch Sandhill cranes fly into their evening roost.
