Join noted Northwoods naturalist, educator and author John Bates as he reveals the mysteries and wonders of a Vilas County, Wisconsin, bog. Discover lady slippers and other rare orchids that, without John's sharp eye and deep knowledge of the Northwoods, might be otherwise difficult to find. In these days of GPS and Google maps, we no longer think of someone knowing a place "like the back of their hand." In the case John Bates and northern Wisconsin, it very much applies.
This half-day tour for up to 4 people would take place in the month of June (earlier in the month for lady's slippers, later in the month for other orchids). The bog to be explored will be determined depending when flowers are blooming. Exact date and time should be arranged with John.
